Not too much imo. The stuff he had was pretty hardcore child porn drawings. Stuff that really pushes the edge on child porn doesn't usually come over here anyways.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when Kanokon is released though.

Well, not...much. I mean, he had porn, not your average anime works. Sure, stuff like Negima really pushes the envelope, but it's not full-on porn like he had. So, I'm not worried...

I'm not really worried about it changing anything about what gets licensed here and such. It worries me about something else entirely, though.

I collect doujinshi. Quite a bit of the doujinshi I collect is R-18 stuff. I'm not too worried since I'm not into loli or shota, but at the same time? When someone from overseas buys doujinshi, you really can't tell for sure exactly what all the doujinshi will have in it until you get it. I'm really pretty scared about having some jerk at the post office go through my mail and finding some random loli/shota scene in a doujin I'd ordered that I didn't even know was there and then calling the cops on me for it. I'm probably just paranoid, since I own 50+ doujinshi and there hasn't been any surprises like that in regards to content so far, but still.

yeah i can understand that also i really don't get peoples hangups with loli and shota (i like neither) in my opinion i'd rather have people wanking to drawn images then real abused childen and i know you could argue the "they'll eventually turn to real cp" which i equate to the "videogames make murderers" argument which to me depends on the mental state of each person since i've played some insanely violent games yet i've never felt the urge to actually kill a hooker or snipe randome strangers

Well, I recently bought a yaoi volume released by an American company with a scene edited out. Apparently one of the adult characters had a flashback to his first time with an older man when he was a young teen. So yeah, this does not bode well. And btw, I am not into loli or shota but when it happens to be part of a story, I expect it to stay in there. I too, don't buy into " the movie/book/tv made me do it" defense.

It's lame that it happens, but then again I'm not a child pornographer, nor am I into loli or shouta either, so I wouldn't want to read that kind of stuff anyway. On the other hand if it gets in the way of legitimate, non-porn, works though, through unnecessary over-reactionary BS, then I'd be aggravated. I'm not a big manga fan though and don't have anything that might have it.

when the story calls for it then i think its in like black lagoon's vampire twins although they never showed anything graphic it would of been fine to me since their past is important to the storyline they're going for

Yeah, that's more of a reference, and removing references to acts would be pointless since they don't violate obscenity laws. I'd consider removing those a violation of the first amendment of this country. Actually showing the acts of abuse or child pornography themselves is a different matter.

I don't think it'll effect things too much. I start to get worried when they get after people who have anime/manga that isn't the typical porn stuff, but have mild or above average sexual situations that may rub people off in the wrong way and refuse to see any context in the situation. Not only that, but the person who possess these have no child porn or any other pornography in tow. That really sets up a witch hunt to my eyes and could lead to the typical slippery slope and much greater problems of prosecuting in the future.

I too am a doujinshi collector and have worried about this so much I've pretty much stopped buying new doujinshi all together unless I've already seen full scans of the doujinshi I'm about to buy. Still, I own a couple questionable doujinshi here or there (Here's looking at your Mythical Detective Loki, Naruto and Cardcaptor Sakura/Tsubasa) but I'm not ready to throw those in a shredder yet.
