I also enjoyed the Belgrieve segments more, but it's not like I found the series bipolar or anything. Ange is hard to hate.
There were some great anime and some not so great anime this season, but for me, by far the greatest number of anime occupied a mid range and were basically solid, teetering between mediocrity and reliability. Some of them I stuck with, and some of them I dropped, but most of them had their moments where watching them felt like an obligation that I mildly resented.
Not this one though. This one was solidly solid.
(Just pretend that made sense. It's Christmas...)

At least I felt more closure from this than I got from Under Ninja (which killed off the MC and replaced him with 3 brothers at the last second) or Helck.
I particularly liked the revelation between Angie and Kasim. I'd love another season of this but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, I've never been very good at predicting what shows will get a season 2 or when. Sometimes that's to my benefit - I had given up on one of my personal faves, Monogatori: Malevelolent Spirits when they announced a season 2 was coming out just half a year after the first premiered. But most of the time it's me cursing the world. (Bento!!! Damn you, how could there have never been a season 2 of Bento!?!)
My crude barometer for how well a season is doing is to check Crunchyroll's popularity chart, and My Daughter Left the Nest is in the top 20. Arguably, this might be because it was just on yesterday, but a lot of the shows that were on yesterday aren't on the chart. Jujutsu Kaisen is, obviously, and Dr. Stone, but not A Girl and her Guard Dog or Rurouni Kenshin, or Ancient Magus Bride, or Under Ninja, or (unfortunately) the Yuzuki Brothers. And I don't think any of the shows from Wednesday are on there.

Anything is possible in anime world these days, the wildest things get an adaption or even a second season. Take the vending machine isekai for example, despite the novel having been frozen/axed it not only got an adaption, but even a second season.
