posted on by Karen Ressler
The official website for the television anime adaptation of Satoshi Miyakawa and artist Kei Itō's Uchū Senkan Tiramisu (Space Battleship Tiramisu) manga announced on Friday that Kaito Ishikawa will perform the opening theme song "Breakthrough" and the ending theme song "DURANDAL" as his character Subaru Ichinose. The website posted a second promotional video previewing both songs.
The website also announced three additional cast members:
Jouji Nakata as Pubic Hair
Halko Momoi as PAC2-AR
Finally, the website unveiled information about the series Blu-ray Disc and DVD releases, revealing that the series will have 13 television episodes and three unaired episodes. The first set will include episodes 1-6 and two unaired episodes while the second set will include episodes 7-13 and one unaired episode.
The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, BS11, and the Hikari TV streaming service on Monday, April 2 at 1:00 a.m., 2:00 a.m., 2:30 a.m., and 2:00 a.m., respectively (all effectively Tuesday morning). It will also air on AT-X on April 6 at 10:35 p.m.
The previously announced cast includes:
Takahiro Sakurai as Isuzu Ichinose
Junichi Suwabe as Vulgar Hummer
Takuya Eguchi as Subaru-B
Aya Endō as Ligier Leroy
Akio Ohtsuka will also narrate the show.
The tagline in the visual reads, "The Earth was blue. The brothers were idiots."
Hiroshi Ikehata (Robot Girls Z, Seiyu's Life!) is directing the anime, Yū Satō is handing the series composition, and Ai Yokoyama (Bayonetta: Bloody Fate) is designing the characters. As previously announced, Studio Gonzo is providing the animation.
The science fiction gag comedy follows the everyday life of Subaru Ichinose, the ace pilot of the space battleship "Tiramisu." Since he cannot get used to being surrounded by older pilots, Subaru shuts himself in the cockpit of his personal ship "Durandal."
Writer Miyakawa (Haha o Nakushita Toki, Boku wa Ikotsu o Tabetai to Omotta.) and artist Itō launched the ongoing manga on Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch website in October 2015.
The manga is also inspiring a stage play this summer.
