Kadokawa announced on Friday that Nekomaki's Neko to Jii-chan (Cat and Grandpa) manga is getting a live-action film adaptation. Kadokawa will announce cast and debut date details for the film at a later date.
The comedy manga centers on Daikichi, an old widower who lives together with his cat Tama.
Nekomaki launched the manga in Kadokawa's Comic Essay Gekijō magazine in 2015. Kadokawa published the manga's fourth compiled book volume on Friday. The manga has 260,000 copies in print.
Nekomaki launched the Mameneko manga in 2013, and Sakurasha published the manga's eighth compiled volume last July. The manga also centers around a family with cats. The manga is inspiring a television anime adaptation by Charaction that premiered on January 8.
