Princess Kaguya Cinema Screenings Next Sunday
posted on by Andrew Osmond
Isao Takahata's Oscar-nominated Ghibli film The Tale of the Princess Kaguya will have numerous cinema screenings on Sunday November 27 by Picturehouse cinemas. All the screenings are linked from this web page. Nearly all the screenings are described as subtitled, although the screening at Clapham Picturehouse is not described as either dubbed or subtitled.
Set in tenth-century Japan, the film is about a tiny girl who emerges from a bamboo shoot, is adopted by a peasant couple, and then finds herself elevated to high society. The Princess Kaguya screenings are part of a season of fairy tale-related films at the Picturehouse cinema chain, called the Enchanted Screen. (Other films in the season include The Red Shoes, The Company of Wolves and The Singing Ringing Tree.)
