Clione no Akari Net Novel Gets TV Anime in Early Summer
posted on by Egan Loo
A television anime adaptation of Natural-Rain's illustrated online novel Clione no Akari (Clione's Light) has been green-lit for airing early this summer on Tokyo MX and other stations. Former SKE48 idol group member aki (Crane Game Girls Galaxy, Nazotokine) composed and sings the opening theme song "Clione no Akari," and is also singing the ending theme song. The singer announced the anime and her theme songs at her solo live concert on Tuesday.
The story centers around an illness-stricken, constantly bullied orphan girl named Minori. After one rainy day, she doesn't turn up at school, having been admitted into a hospital in a distant town. Two months pass, and the girl's two school friends, Takashi and Kyōko, receive a mysterious email with no sender listed. The email reveals a summer festival taking place at a nearby town ....
Natural-Rain started posting the original story online in 2004, and East Press published it in print in 2012. The app version ranked #9 among paid apps on the Apple Store.
