Weekly Shonen Jump Asks Readers to Write Letters of Support for Possible Teenage Renaissance! David Anime
posted on by Kim Morrissy
In this week's issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, the editorial department left a message for fans of Yūshin Kuroki's Teenage Renaissance! David manga series, encouraging them to send letters of support for an anime even if they feel "embarrassed" to say it. The message pointed out that Seiji Hayashi's I'm From Japan (Jimoto ga Japan) manga, which began serializing around the same time as Teenage Renaissance! David, already has an anime adaptation in the works.
Weekly Shonen Jump also encouraged readers to send in suggestions and messages of support for collaborations (with museums, schools, exhibits, etc.) involving Teenage Renaissance! David. They ask for readers to send letters to the address below with the subject line: "I couldn't say it, but to tell you the truth I really wanted it to be made into an anime!"

Yūshin Kuroki also left a message giving his regards to the readers for 2019, and said that if an anime adaptation ever is announced, he would like to take a trip to Italy for research. If readers show enough support, perhaps he'll get his wish within the year.
Teenage Renaissance! David is about a "typical Japanese high school student" who looks exactly like Michelangelo's David statue. The gag manga debuted alongside I'm From Japan! in September last year and was previewed in Viz Media's digital English edition of Weekly Shonen Jump. The manga is available to read in English on Shueisha's new MANGA Plus app. Kuroki previously published a one-shot with the same title in Weekly Shonen Jump earlier in the same year.
