Katsuki Tanaka's Gyakkō no Koro Manga Gets Live-Action Film in 2017
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
A live-action film adaptation of Katsuki Tanaka's Gyakkō no Koro (The Time of Backlights) manga has been green-lit. The film is slated for 2017. Keiichi Kobayashi is directing the film and penning the script, while Mahiro Takasugi is playing the main character Takatoyo Akada (seen below).
The original manga's story is set in Kyoto, and centers on the adolescent years of Takatoyo, focusing on his uncertain and fleeting nature.
The manga is Tanaka's debut work. He serialized the manga in Kodansha's Comic Morning (the original name of the Morning magazine) and Morning Open magazines from 1988 to 1989. Kodansha published the manga's one compiled book volume in 1989, which was out of print until Ohta Publishing Co. reprinted the volume in 2009.
