Hello Kitty Leads in Sanrio's Character Grand Prix 2019

This year's Sanrio Character Grand Prix contest is utilizing not only web votes; participants can submit their favorites via store locations and even the TikTok app.
The result is a huge turnout. Over 7 million mascot fans have cast their vote since the poll opened last month. Sanrio announced the interim results on May 6 and despite only coming in fourth last year, Hello Kitty is currently leading the pack. She's followed by Cinnamoroll and Pom Pom Purin in second and third. My Melody, Pochaco, Little Twin Stars, Kuromi, Gudetama, Yoshikitty, and Tuxedo Sam round out the top 10.
Interestingly, Sanrio is also providing the favorite picks from overseas voters. Taiwan's first choice is Pom Pom Purin, China's is Yoshikitty, and Hong Kong's is Pekkle.
Last year's winner was Cinnamon, the dog's second time in the top spot followed by Pom Pom Purin and the X Japan stand-in mascot Yoshikitty! Hello Kitty herself came in fourth followed by My Melody, Pochacco, Little Twin Stars, Gudetama, SHOW BY ROCK!!, and Kuromi.
Sanrio will announce the final results on June 4 at the Sanrio Puroland theme park.
