Pixiv, Ura Sunday Contest Seeks Writers for Women's Isekai Stories

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

pixiv and the women's division of Shogakukan's web comic magazine Ura Sunday are partnering up for a contest centering on one of anime and manga's most popular scenarios: reincarnation in another world. This time though, the contest is looking to diversify the genre by accepting novel entries created to appeal to female readers. The grand prize winning author will receive 300,000 yen (US$2,600) and the offer to serialize their work on the Manga ONE app.

Interested writers need to submit their work using pixiv's "Novel" posting function with the tag "裏サンデー異世界マンガ原作コンテスト" (Ura Sunday isekai manga gensaku contest). The submission can be submitted as either a short story or longer but should be at least 10,000 Japanese characters in length and include a summary caption of at least 400 characters. The winning work will be adapted into a manga for the Manga ONE app.

Submissions are currently open and will be accepted until November 18.

Multiple entries will be chosen for the "excellence award" that includes a 50,000 yen prize and will be considered for serialization on Manga ONE. This is different than the top prize where serialization is guaranteed. Honorable mention winners will receive 30,000 yen prizes and also have their work considered for serialization.

pixiv is hosting the submissions for readers to browse.
