Doraemon Birthday Prize Giveaway Offers Educational Toy Computer

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Doraemon, everyone's favorite earless robot cat from the future, marks his birthday on September 3. To celebrate, the franchise's official Doraemon Channel website is holding several campaigns.

A three-week prize campaign will offer different sets of prizes every week for three weeks. The first week began on Friday, and the top prize for the week is a Doraemon Step-Up Pasocon toy computer. The educational computer toy is targeted at children entering elementary school, and it features 40 menus with a total of more than 1,000 questions. The computer focuses on STEM subjects, but it also includes English and music activities, as well as games. The toy launched in Japan on July 14, and it normally costs 14,800 yen (about US$130). Below is Bandai's promotional video for the regular release of the computer.

The other prizes in the first week of the birthday giveaway are five plastic models, five sets of seven Fujiko F. Fujio manga books, five aprons, and five plush and pin sets. Fans can enter for a chance to win any of the prizes by filling out an online application form.

For Doraemon's birthday celebration, the website is also adding new content to its TenComi Tanteidan (TenComi Detective Team) project and offering a special wallpaper. Another Doraemon story will debut on the website on September 14. In addition, the website is holding a Twitter campaign to offer a chance to win a poster signed by the anime's five main voice cast members.
