Saga Prefecture's Yuri!!! on Ice Tourism Campaign Gears Up for Round 3

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Saga Prefecture's successful "Saga!!! on Ice" tourism campaign with the Yuri!!! on Ice anime is gearing up for its third round. The project already helped to bring in more than 40,000 fans excited to see Yūri Katsuki's home town.

The new wave of the collaboration that promotes Karatsu, the city that inspired the fictional Hasetsu in Yuri!!! on Ice, will launch on April 28 and run until August 31. A new food menu and merchandise featuring new mini character designs will debut.

In addition, a "Yuri!!! on Museum" exhibition will run in the Rainbow Hall of the city's Niji no Matsubara Hotel from April 29 to June 10. The exhibit is currently running at the Parco store in Sendai, Miyagi until April 15, and it previously ran at the Tower Records store in Shibuya, Tokyo last summer.

The exhibit features recreations of the anime characters' costumes and skates, new original artwork, and other displays. Six audio guides featuring two characters each are available. The sixth audio guide with secret characters is only available to people who have previously visited the exhibit and used all five of the other audio guides. People who use the audio guides receive one of six regular character postcards, and an additional premium postcard and A3-size poster is available to people who use the secret audio guide.

Regular tickets to the new installment of the exhibit cost 1,000 yen (about US$9) in advance or 1,300 yen (about US$12) at the door. Tickets with a "Hasetsu Passport" book and one audio guide will be available for 1,700 yen (about US$16) in advance or 2,000 yen (about US$19) at the door. The passports will allow visitors to visit three locations in Karatsu while participating in a mini stamp rally that will offer bonus items such as postcards and mini clear files. The passports will also be available for purchase separately at select shops within the city during the campaign period.
