Bandai's re-release of the original handheld Tamagotchi pet-raising game is making its way to the U.S. and offer collectors a way to relive those sleepless nights taking care of an 8-bit alien.
Bandi reissued the pet-raising keychains in Japan in April under the name "Kaette Kita! Chibi Tamagotchi" (They're Back! Mini Tamagotchi) to celebrate the toy line's 20th anniversary. The creature-raising Tamagotchi keychain game was originally released by Bandai in 1996 and this reissue has the same graphics and face plates at about half the size. There are six total designs in all.
The U.S. release is slated for November 5 and will retail for US$14.99.
This is officially Tamagotchi's third 20th anniversary version. The Tamagotchi 4U edition had a nostalgia add-on released in Japan in 2015 and the Tamagotchi m!x also got a 20th anniversary edition in 2016.
