Interest: Hatsune Miku Appears in Hokkaido Public Service Ad

Virtual idol singer Hatsune Miku appears in a public service commercial that the Advertising Council of Japan began airing exclusively in the northern Japanese prefecture of Hokkaido this month. In the ad, Miku is introduced along with other Hokkaido-born celebrities such as chef Kiyomi Mikuni, Nobel Prize laureate Akira Suzuki, furniture maker Conde House, and mountaineer Nobukazu Kuriki. The ad aims to raise the appeal of Hokkaido and showcase its native talent and strengths.

Crypton Future Media, the company that created Hatsune Miku and several other Vocaloid characters to personify its vocal music synthesis software, is based in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
