Rock group streams "Pray for Japan" event to raise funds for quake victims

Sync Music Japan, the project run by the Japan Association of Music Enterprises (JAME), announced on Wednesday that the Japanese rock band girugamesh will conduct a special "Pray for Japan" event live on streaming site Ustream. The event will take place on Friday, April 15 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on the Nexus Aid Ustream channel.

Girugamesh has also released a charity single called "pray" in both English and Japanese. Proceeds from the sale of the song will go to relief efforts in Japan via the Jack in the Box Charity Fundraiser.

Additionally, the band will conduct a United States tour starting in Boston, Massachusetts on April 22 and ending in Washington, D.C. on April 27. Girugamesh has scheduled six concert dates in Japan throughout the month of June.

San Francisco's New People Center also announced on Wednesday that it will host a special screening as the center's second fundraising event for earthquake relief in Japan. On April 17 at 3:30 p.m., the center will screen the live-action film Taste of Tea. Rather than selling tickets, the center suggests attendees donate US$10, with proceeds going to the Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund.

Update: Time and Boston's spelling corrected. Thanks, karenai_hana and SteelyMag.
