The link to the trailer in the article is a video stream, i am not sure as to the situations of others, but i used VLC player to open the streaming data file after saving the link to my computer. Forgive the arbitrary post if this type of thing is standard practice.

There is clearly nowhere near enough women in skintight futuristic uniforms for this to be a Masamune Shirow endeavour. I call shenanigans.

Shirow didn't do the character designs, he just came up with the idea, like with Ghost Hound. The designs themselves are a little unappealing in certain aspects on their own, but I think the animation makes them look great (from what we've been shown). Looking forward to this one.

I can't imagine that him not doing the character designs is even relevant. It's hardwired into his brain.

Dollar says the elevator pitch went something like "Computer AI system goes HAL 9000 on the populace, which must be saved by a protagonist or team of protagonists with huge racks and as little clothing as possible. Here's a pic from my latest GalHound collection for reference."

This, Ghost Hound, and RD Sennou Chousashitsu (starts airing in April). Shirow is on a roll lately.

"Real Drive" and "RD Sennou Chousashitsu" are the same thing.

Wow, can't wait for this to come out. The character designs look very GitS:SAC-ish, although I'm somewhat surprised by the lack of a busty female lead - then again, Ghost Hound is proof that Shirow is capable of creating a great story without busty females.

He does have such a way with them, though....Sigh.

Boy, I'm really starting to find a bit of love for Shirow lately! I mean Ghost in the Shell was pretty good, but I've been really falling in love with Ghost Hound most recently, and who knows about Appleseed, which I plan on getting myself into fairly soon. Looks like this'll definitely be one I'll be giving a shot then. The premise for it sounds really cool. Cool

Couldn't pull off the VLC player strategy for playing the trailer for some reason though..... Sad

Do yourself a favor, and read the manga. It's one of the best manga I've ever read, and it's so much better than the movies. It's kind of expensive to buy now (I think Robert's Anime Corner Store still sells it), but you might be able to get it through a library. The movies put a totally different spin on the characters and the whole world they live in, and while I guess it's okay, just...read the manga Razz

Yeah, I was thinking about the manga also. More than likely I'll try both out eventually. But if the manga is that good then that'll probably be first then. Mostly just depends on which one I can afford better though, which in that case the movies will probably come first. Wink We'll see, but I definitely intend on trying both eventually.
