I'm guessing he quit because he wasn't into all the management duties, he does mention not liking having to attend meetings. I think i heard somewhere that in Japan promotion is not something you can turn down, so leaving was the only way to get a job lower down at a company.

It would be great to see him play some of his games and with commentary, though that sounds unlikely.

First time I've heard senior management at game production companies include "gardening leave" as part of their standard contract clauses. Even banks aren't as strict with their equivalents. Maybe because he's so high-profile that he was given special treatment? And he signed it anyway?

It sounds like he could be suffering from burnout and probably stress judging from that. So maybe he's prioritizing his mental health, I think.

Well, it is certainly not the first time - Shinji Mikami also had the same non-compete clause after leaving Tango Gameworks.

Non-competes are immoral and horrible.

Companies have the ability to fire you at any time, and when they do, they also have the right to keep you from working elsewhere?

//Lost my job in 2020 in a layoff from a company that two weeks earlier said that there would be no layoffs. About a year earlier, they said that they'd be releasing everyone except upper management from non-competes. Guess what was right in the severance agreement? A new copy of the non-compete.

The thing said stuff like me having to inform them of every job and every address for *three years* after they ousted me.

In any kind of rational society, one should be able to switch jobs at any time for any reason, including similar work from a company that simply treats people more humanely.

If you're in the US, they're actually banned or restricted in a number of states. The FTC is currently in the middle of discussing banning them at the federal level (with a few narrow exceptions).

Also: Even without that, they were basically unenforceable for lower-level employees. They have to establish damages against you, so it'd cost them more to sue you than they would get out of it.

If he wanted to work in a ramen stall, I don't think anything is stopping him from taking that job. No-Compete clauses don't stop people from working at all, it usually prevents them for a period of time from working directly with a rival company in the same role they had previously.

At least he can appear in public.

In the case of the Kalafina dissolution and two of its members leaving Spacecraft management, at least one of them, Keiko Kubota was incognito (no public posts or appearances) for a year. There are ANN articles on Keiko Kubota to demonstrate this.

This may have not been legally enforceable, but the power inbalance between a management company and one of its clients could have been enough to ensure silence.

It would be good as part of the clean up of artist management in Japan that such controlling behaviour was outlawed with help available for artists feeling trapped and powerless.

The power imbalance between a management company and one of its clients is significant - management companies often have much control over an artist's career. That is why I have quit this profession. Now, I am a gambling sites reviewer, writing about different bonus codes and, for example, partial match: 100 free spins no deposit bonus to inform gamblers about the options of various casinos. 100 free spins no deposit bonus codes sound like one of the best offers I have analyzed.

Kamiya never wanted Dante and Bayonetta in the same video game unless he supervised it so take the opportunity Nintendo and shove Devil May Cry into Smash, and no not the DMC 1 version that doesn't use Rebellion that no one cares about. Anime, 3, 4 and 5 version that all use Rebellion. Dante's inclusion into the franchise can't just be in that Mii outfit OF DMC 1 DANTE THAT DOESN'T USE REBELLION GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol! Dante and Bayonetta are both in Puzzle & Dragons and that SMT smartphone game so it has happened. Kamiya did not allow Bayonettta to be in Project x Zone 2, but after seeing what they did he said he would be alright with Bayonetta showing up in a potential Project x Zone 3.

Hoping the characters will meet in a console game for real someday. With Dante using Rebellion of course. Alastor Sword sucks, the Dante Sword sucks, Rebellion all the way! ROFL!
